  Edward (Ted) Bentley (1929 - 2008)

 Ted Bentley was a pivotal figure in the History of  the City of Burnie Brass Band and his time as Principal of the Burnie College of TAFE coupled with business ventures made him a significant figure in the Burnie community as well. When declining health finally forced him to retire from the band in 2006, a large concert was held in his honour at Burnie's St Georges Church combining both the Burnie and Ulverstone bands. The PDF file below contains the program for that concert as well as tributes to the achievements of both Ted and wife Louisa Bentley (Who died on December 19th, 2014).

  Royce Reid (1923 - 1998)

 Just like Ted Bentley (see section above), Royce Reid was an important figure in the history of the City of Burnie Brass Band as well as being a significant figure in the Burnie business community, running his own transportation business. Royce Reid was President of the band from 1984 to 1987. He was made a life member in 1984 and was Bandsman of the year in both 1984 and 1987. Royce was responsible for recruiting a large number of juniors into the band and helped with both their training and in encouraging of them.
